Ecotrak® – Radon monitoring in soil
To measure the radon concentration in soil is simple. The monitoring is carried out by our detectors as an accredited service over 1 to 7 days and can be carried out at any time of year, provided the soil is frost-free. The analysis is performed by our laboratory, and the results are sent by e-mail within a week of you returning the detectors.
This type of monitoring is often used to determine radon levels before building a new property or extending or modernizing an existing property. We recommend using at least three detectors for an area of 100 m², and then it’s a good idea to have at least one extra detector per extra 50 m².
Uranium and radium are the two elements that contribute to the high levels of radon gas found in soil. Levels of radon gas can vary widely depending on the type of soil. As a general rule, the airier the soil composition, the higher the level of radon because a more compact composition makes it more difficult for the radon to circulate.
